I have been teaching Language Arts since 2006 and have been working at the West Tisbury School since 2008. 

My goal is to help students to develop strong literacy skills by engaging in authentic reading, writing, speaking and listening tasks.  I strive to create a structured community of enthusiastic and respectful learners who value literature and literacy, and are able to use their individual strengths and interests to guide and enrich their education. 

When I'm not at work, I love being active and spending time outdoors; I especially enjoy biking and tennis.  I live in West Tisbury with my husband, Jon and our two children, Greyson and Fiona.  

I am excited to join Skye Sonneborn as a Special Education Co-Teacher in ELA for grades 6 and 7 at the West Tisbury School.  I have been working with students and families for over ten years and have taught Visual Art, ESL and Special Education.

It is my goal to assist students to access the general education curriculum and support their individual learning styles using multisensory teaching stratgies.  I believe that all students thrive in a safe environment with clear expectations and learning goals.  Supporting students holistically and developing strong relationships is at the core of my teaching philosophy.

When I'm not at work, I enjoy traveling internationally to volunteer with disaster relief organizations.  I love water sports, hiking and discovering hidden beaches on Cape Cod.
